Color Film for 120 Holga and other Lomo Cameras

There are a great number of 120 films available. First you should decide what film you will be shooting? Color C-41, B&W or Slide Film. There are many brands and specific film types and it is often hard to know which film is most appealing to you until you can see for yourself. It is best to experiment and see what results you like most. In this post we will look at two color films that give great results.

The film that you choose to shoot with greatly influence how the final prints will turn out. When shooting with a holga or other plastic lens camera a little grain in the film really helps bring out the softness. Shooting with ISO 400 film is also recommended with a Holga unless you are in bright sunlight then you could use a slower film with less grain. 400 ISO film is beautiful and works well with the shutter speed and F11 of the Holga camera.

My Favorite 400 Film is Fuji, The colors are lovely, nice moderate grain and good contrast. Available on Amazon:

If you are looking for bright vivid shots with little grain then an ISO 100 color negative film is great. I really like the highly vibrant saturated colors you can get from Kodak Ektar Color Negative Film. If you are in the US you can get Ektar Color 5 packs from amazon for a good price:

Kodak Ektar Color 5 Packs can be shipped World Wide from ADORAMA

Have fun trying out these color films. Next post we are going to cover the best Slide Films for Toy Cameras and Cross Processing the film.

Holga WPC - Medium Format Wide Pin Hole Camera

The Holga WPC is an awesome addition to the Holga Family. The WPC is a basic pinhole camera that is so simple to use and allows the photographer to take amazing dreamy images.

Here are some shots from the 1st roll I shot with the WPC

great ocean road - holga panorama

lorne pier - holga panorama

otway forrest - holga wpc

The guide to exposure times is a rough guide only and it is best to experiment to find what exposure times work for you. The holga WPC features built in cable release threaded shutter release button, bubble level, 0.3mm f/135 pinhole, 1/4-20 thread tripod mount and masks for both 6×7 cm or 6×9cm images. Uses 120 size B&W or color film. You get both a 6×12 and 6×9 mask for it, to produce different size negs. I have not tested the 6×9 yet as I wanted to go wide with the shots.

The best thing about the Holga is the very low price for a panoramic pinhole!

You can get one from Adorama with free shipping in the states HERE

or from Amazon Holga 120WPC Wide Angle Pin Hole 120mm Film Medium Format Camera
